About Physics Test 01

Physics questions in entry tests are usually short, direct and based on units, laws and everyday ideas. Physics Test 01 has 25 multiple-choice questions to attempt in 10 minutes, covering motion, energy, electricity, light, sound and heat.

It is a quick way to find out which parts of the syllabus you remember well and which need another look before your real paper. After you finish, you will see your score along with a short explanation for every answer you missed.

Topics covered

The questions come from basics that most syllabuses share. You will see:

  • SI units such as newton, watt, pascal and hertz
  • Motion, force, momentum and Newton's laws
  • Work, kinetic energy and potential energy
  • Electricity, including current, resistance and Ohm's law
  • Light, lenses and mirrors
  • Sound, heat transfer and temperature scales

Study tips for physics

Many physics marks are won by knowing units and formulas well. Make a two-column list with the quantity on one side and its SI unit on the other, then test yourself every morning. Learn each formula together with the meaning of every symbol, because a formula you cannot explain is easy to misuse.

When a question looks unfamiliar, ask which law or idea applies before you think about numbers. A question about a stretched spring points to elastic energy, while a question about a rear-view mirror points to the convex mirror and its wide field of view.

How to review your result

Do not stop at the score. Sort your wrong answers into three groups: units you forgot, formulas you mixed up, and concepts you never understood. The third group needs the most time, so return to your textbook for those topics and retake the test after a few days.

Everyday examples help

Link each topic to something you have seen. Sound needing a medium explains why space is silent, and heat travelling by radiation explains how sunlight reaches Earth. Real examples make definitions easier to recall when the clock is running.

Build speed with short drills

Set a five-minute timer and answer ten questions on a single topic, such as units or electricity. Repeat with a different topic each day. Short drills train quick recall, which is exactly what a timed test demands, and they leave your mind fresh instead of tired.
